Tell us about yourselves.
Hi, we're Kim (61) and Bob (54). We're both retired, although Bob does some VIP driving occasionally and a bit of gardening for family and friends - he can't sit still for long! We have an 8-year-old Beagle called Timmy.
When did you move to Gateforth Park?
We moved to Gateforth Park on 17th April 2026.
What model of park home do you have?
We have a Prestige Plantation, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom model. It has open plan living, dining and lounge with decking and fabulous views, and a great sized garden.
Have you lived on a residential park before?
No, although we do have a wooden lodge in Masham, North Yorkshire, that we love and lived in for a while before our house sold.
What kind of property did you have before moving to Gateforth?
We lived in a very large detached house for 30 years, which had a self contained apartment for my mum, who sadly passed recently. Our children are also grown up and have their own homes, and the house just felt too big for just the two of us and Timmy.
How did you discover Gateforth Park?
We first met Helen and her dad Alan, both from the Gateforth team, at a show - I think it was Harrogate? Phase 1 of the park had already been completed, and we liked the look of the place on the plans etc. Then when mum passed away some years later we decided to have a look for ourselves.
What were your initial impressions when you first visited?
We visited in late 2024, and loved the way it was set out, not in rows, like usual park home estates. We saw a plot that we liked, put a deposit down and we put our house on the market. But it was taking a while to sell, so we sadly gave back word on the original plot.
We then had a buyer who pulled out 2 days before exchanging contracts, and we thought we would never be moving! Then in November 2025, we found a lovely buyer with a gorgeous family, who loved the house as much as we did, and it felt so right to have it going to a family. When we had exchanged contracts we came back to Gateforth for another look on 1st April.
We looked at a couple of pre-loved homes, which were lovely but Helen and Carol led us to the newest showhome, which was almost exactly the layout we had spoken about on our first visit. It was also on one of the large plots we had first considered. We couldn't resist! We put a deposit down the next day and paid for it in full the following day!
Carol arranged for temporary 'doggy proofing' to keep Timmy safe until the metal gates and fencing arrives. She also arranged for a boundary fence between us and the farmer's field.
How did you find the whole process, from the first viewing to moving in?
Absolutely flawless, Helen and Carol are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, answering queries and questions quickly. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Everything went smoothly. We had some initial 'snagging' to do and Prestige came and sorted that quite quickly.
How are you settling in?
We have settled surprisingly quickly; we still have some boxes to unpack which will be done when we have extra storage built in.
We love it here, and Timmy loves it too! We like that everyone is like-minded and respectful; it's a lovely community-spirited, friendly place. It has a lovely feel to it and it's beautifully kept.
What do you like about your park home?
It's the perfect size for us and the layout suits our needs. It feels very homely and all our neighbours are lovely.
And what do you like about living on a residential park?
It feels very secure and safe. It's also beautifully kept. And the community is fabulous, everyone is so friendly. It will be nice to see the park finished.
Do you have any favourite places to visit?
Bob is in his element as the tip is 10 minutes away! Selby is a short drive and has everything you could need. There are lovely walks on our doorstep, and Yorkshire is only a short drive away.
What would you say to people considering moving to Gateforth Park?
Just do it! You won't regret your decision.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Don't worry if your current home is taking a long time to sell/complete. Almost all of the residents have experienced issues with the current housing market, but please be assured the lovely staff at Gateforth Park will do their best to support you through it.
