Tell us about yourselves

We are Rob, Liz and Sid the cat. We are 65 (Sid is 14!) and from Sheffield. We are both retired.

When did you move to Gateforth Park?

We picked up the keys on 21st July and moved in on 23rd.

What model of park home do you have?

We have an Omar Newmarket with a study. We made several alterations to the kitchen including a much larger stand-alone fridge freezer.

Have you lived on a residential park before?

We have a holiday lodge in Angrove, south of Middlesborough, and have sold our 4 bedroom house in Sheffield to move here downsizing.

Why did you choose to move to a residential park?

We liked the security and the community support as well as the setting of a residential park.

How did you discover Gateforth Park?

We searched online for residential parks and visited six before we came to Gateforth. We first visited in December and reserved a plot in February after our house sold. Gateforth seemed less cramped than other sites and had a much more attractive entrance. We saw a variety of homes on the site but loved the lakeside view so we decided to go bespoke.

How did you find the whole process of moving to Gateforth Park?

The process has been relatively smooth, especially from the Gateforth side. Helen and Carol were very knowledgeable and quick to respond to any queries. Our house sold quickly but it was a real challenge downsizing after 27 years.

How are you settling in?

It’s still early days yet but we are settling in well. We are looking forward to the new neighbours who are arriving and our garden being developed to our specification.

What do you like about living in a park home and a residential park?

We like the view and the ease of living on one level. Our home has a very spacious, open plan feel as soon as you walk in the door and the decking is as big as another room! We like the feeling of safety and community support on the park. Everyone talks to each other, and is very helpful and kind. Both the residents and the staff can’t do enough for you!

How about the location?

Our position on the lake is ideal and is especially beautiful at night with the lights and the stars. We haven’t found a favourite walk yet but a deer leapt across my path as I came through the woods on my first walk back from Thorpe Willoughby.

What would you say to people considering moving to Gateforth Park?

We would say do it! Downsizing is difficult but the end result is well worth it.
